At Hitchman Industries, we believe building or remodeling your home should be exciting, not overwhelming. Our proven step-by-step process is designed to give you clarity, confidence, and peace of mind at every stage. From the first conversation to the moment you hold the keys, we work alongside you to ensure your home reflects your vision, budget, and lifestyle.

Step 1: Dream & Prepare

Every great project starts with inspiration. Before we meet, we recommend you:

  • Create a list of your wants, needs, and “must-haves.”

  • Establish a realistic budget for your home or remodel.

  • Gather design ideas—whether that’s Pinterest boards, magazine clippings, or a simple scrapbook.

This preparation helps us better understand your vision and style.

Step 2: Initial Consultation on Site (or Virtual)

We’ll schedule a time to meet at your lot, home, or project location. If you prefer, we can also meet virtually. During this meeting, we will:

  • Review your project goals, scope, and budget.

  • Look over any plans you already have.

  • Provide a rough estimate based on the information you share.

This is also where we make sure we’re the right fit for one another.

Step 3: Service Agreement & Project Kickoff

To move forward, we’ll offer a service agreement with a retainer. This step secures your place on our build calendar and allows us to begin the design and planning phase.

What this means for you:

  • We take your ideas and turn them into preliminary design concepts, budgetary estimates, and a timeline.

  • The retainer fee is credited toward your construction costs once the contract is signed.

Step 4: Design & Planning Collaboration

This is where your vision starts coming to life. We’ll work closely with architects, interior designers, and our team.

  • Don’t have an architect or designer yet? We can recommend trusted professionals or provide design-build services in-house.

  • Collaborate with your design team on preliminary plans.

  • Preview both interior and exterior selections.

(We encourage all decision-makers to be present during design meetings to ensure clarity and alignment.)

Step 5: Finalizing Plans & Cost Estimate

Together, we’ll finalize the details of your project. This includes:

  • Locking in your floor plans and selections.

  • Finalizing construction specifications and allowances.

  • Presenting a detailed cost estimate and project timeline.

This step ensures there are no surprises before construction begins.

Step 6: Construction Contract

Once everything is approved, we’ll present the official construction contract.

Here’s what happens:

  • Review and sign the final plans, specifications, and allowances.

  • Review and sign the construction contract.

  • Provide an initial payment (typically 10% of the total contract).

  • If applicable, we’ll submit plans for engineering, HOA/ACC approval.

  • If you are obtaining a construction loan, this is when you will submit documents to your lender.

  • Lot preparation begins after approvals.

Step 7: Construction Phase

Your dream home takes shape step by step.

  • Our team oversees every stage of construction.

  • We conduct both internal and third-party inspections to ensure quality and craftsmanship.

  • You’ll receive regular updates and progress reports from your project manager.

Step 8: Homeowner Orientation & Walkthrough

Before move-in, we’ll walk you through your new home.

This includes:

  • Reviewing finishes, systems, and warranty details.

  • Identifying and addressing any final items before closing.

Step 9: Key Handover & Celebration

The most exciting part—move-in day!

  • We hand over the keys and celebrate the completion of your new home.

  • Even after move-in, we remain available for service, warranty, and future projects.
